FAQs
1. What is Comfort My People?
-
Comfort My People (CMP) is a U.S. 501(c)(3) Christian nonprofit that exists to strengthen the body of Messiah in Israel. Its name comes from Isaiah 40:1
“Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.” CMP sees this as a direct call to the global church to stand with the Jewish people, bless believers in Israel, and partner in God’s ongoing work there. We are not a political advocacy group, CMP is about relationships—connecting Western Christians with the living, breathing community of Jewish and Gentile believers in Israel today. To enhance your understanding and advocate for our partners, we provide Israeli Advocacy Tours in times of peace.
2. Why does CMP focus on Israel—doesn’t the gospel apply to everyone?
-
Yes, the gospel is for everyone, but Paul in Romans 1:16 says it is “to the Jew first.” CMP takes this seriously, believing that God’s covenant with Israel has not been revoked and that the church has a unique role in blessing and partnering with Jewish believers. At the same time, CMP serves Arab, Ethiopian, Druze, and Palestinian believers too. Our emphasis on Israel is not about exclusivity—it’s about honoring God’s order and showing that the gospel unites rather than divides.
3. What does “One New Man” mean, and why is CMP so passionate about it?
-
The phrase comes from Ephesians 2:14–16, where Paul describes how Yeshua (Jesus) broke down the wall of hostility between Jews and Gentiles to make “one new man.” This unity was largely lost over centuries of church history, but God is restoring it in our generation. Practically, this means CMP supports ministries that believe the Abrahamic Covenant remains intact because God made it eternal. This includes Jews, Arabs, and other Gentiles serving side-by-side. It’s a vision of the church as it was meant to be—diverse yet one in Messiah.
4. How does CMP actually help people in Israel?
-
CMP isn’t running its own “programs” but instead comes alongside trusted Israeli ministries. Through these partners, they:
- Provide safe houses for at risk women
- Support mothers who choose life for their babies.
- Disciple young soldiers coming out of the army.
- Care for Holocaust survivors with companionship and dignity.
- Help immigrant families with food, clothing, and preschool access.
- Sponsor Bible translation and distribution in Hebrew.
- Skills and language training for Ethiopians who struggle with assimilation
CMP is compassion, discipleship, and Scripture—woven together and led by local believers.
5. Is CMP political?
-
No. CMP’s work isn’t about taking sides in Israeli politics or lobbying for a certain policy. Instead, our focus is biblical and relational: comforting the Jewish people, honoring Israel’s role in God’s story, and standing with all believers in the Land. That means ministering to Jews and Arabs alike, supporting soldiers and single mothers, and encouraging the wider church to love rather than divide. Our message is: “Relationships are the currency of God’s Kingdom.”
6. I’m Jewish or Israeli—will they try to convert me?
-
CMP emphasizes patience, compassion, and respect. Partners like Awake Israel engage seekers on the street level by answering questions and objections about Jesus (Yeshua) without pressure or manipulation. Their heart is not to erase Jewish identity but to show how faith in Yeshua is deeply Jewish and life-giving. CMP also acknowledges centuries of church antisemitism and says part of its calling is to heal, not to harm.
7. Does CMP teach “replacement theology”?
-
No. CMP strongly rejects the idea that the church has replaced Israel in God’s plan. On the contrary, their teachings highlight God’s faithfulness to Israel, the enduring covenant with the Jewish people, and the special role Jewish believers play in the church’s future. For Gentile Christians, CMP says the right response is not to replace Israel, but to come alongside and fulfill Isaiah’s call: “Comfort my people.”
8. How can American churches be involved?
-
CMP serves as a bridge between Western churches and Israeli believers. Churches can:
- Pray: for Jewish and Arab believers, for unity, and for gospel fruit in Israel.
- Learn: CMP provides teaching resources, blogs, podcasts, and biblical insights.
- Give: financial support flows directly to local ministries vetted for integrity and fruitfulness.
- Visit: when conditions allow, CMP organizes trips for pastors and church groups to meet Israeli believers and see the work firsthand.
We are not tourists but fellow sojourners. That’s discipleship.
9. Who leads CMP, and how did it start?
-
CMP began in 2013 when the founder, Paul, was invited to serve in Israel and quickly realized the need for sustained, biblical, and relational support for believers there. Rather than reinventing the wheel, CMP identified Israeli leaders already walking in integrity and compassion, then built long-term partnerships. That’s still the model today: CMP exists to strengthen what God is already doing through trusted local ministries.
10. If I’m curious but cautious, where should I start?
-
You can start small~read one of our blogs or watch a short video. Go deeper and explore our teachings on Israel and the One New Man, or dive in fully and follow a partner ministry, join a trip and pray. If God leads you to share financially, CMP is a non-profit 501(c)(3) ministry.
Understanding God’s heart for Israel is a way of life for Christians. It’s really not that complicated if you ask Him to help.
