This Spring in the Galilee

Shalom Mishpacha, (Family)

There are so many reasons to love the spring. All of creation comes alive again with new life as the trees and the fields turn their backs on the dead of winter in exchange for green grass and new leaves, followed by flowers, fragrance, and fresh air. Birds begin to sing again and crawling insects become butterflies.

The only thing I don’t like about spring is how quickly it passes.

It’s also the season known as spring cleaning. Yard and garage sales dot the neighborhoods with stuff no longer of use. We assess our lives to decide what is of value and what needs to go.

With spring comes hope. For those of us who know God, we know it is not eternal, but a shadow of the reality that is to come.

I am told by our friends that Israel is bursting forth with color this Spring. The Galilee region is flourishing with all kinds of wildflowers. And there is hope that they will soon be able to gather their families together to celebrate Passover.
But their hope is fragile.

For those in Israel who don’t know Yeshua, it is like grasping oil in your fist.

You want to stop and smell the flowers and listen to the birds chirping, but at any moment a siren screams, a rocket explodes, or a jet fighter plane races across the sky. The only hope they have is to make it to a shelter alive.

Schools are closed, stores are open for necessities, and people gather, but only in safe rooms or bomb shelters. For Believers, their congregations, or fellowships, are closed unless attendance level is below a certain number. Those who do attend must live close enough to safely run to their bomb shelters, if a siren goes off.

However, the people who know their God are doing great exploits and they are shining like the stars in the sky. They are our partners, whom some of you have supported. They are watching and preparing for opportune moments to share the hope that lies within them.  Often that has occurred in bomb shelters. We praise God that those opportunities are occurring frequently.

Nevertheless, they too are human and acquainted with sorrow and loss.

Please help us to help them in practical ways and for them to know that we are with them, so they won’t grow weary in well doing.

Several years ago, one of our partners, an Iranian-born Muslim, who got saved in Iran, fled to America and received asylum status. He married an Israeli Messianic Jewish harpist and they moved to Israel, shortly before October 7. He began cooking meals, with assistance, for 500 soldiers each night and delivering them to their bases. He has a supernatural love for the Jews and Israel (which is prevalent in Iran). His genuine love has opened many conversations that point solely to the love of Yeshua and His power to destroy hatred. He and his wife joined us for our first Mishkha event* in Israel several weeks ago. His wife led us in worship on her harp. It was heavenly 😉

A few weeks ago, he learned of several believing families who have no bomb shelters in their apartments and need to run quickly for safety with their little kids in tow to a congregation nearby. That often means having supper is unpredictable. He also discovered they had a kitchen there that was not in use.

He called me to ask if it was possible to help them. If we could help him with the food cost, he would prepare their meals and bring consistency to their unpredictable lives.

Praise God that we were able to send help, once again because of your support.

This Spring, the Jewish people around the world are living between two biblical celebrations—Purim and Passover. They have similar themes. On both calendar dates, the Jews were liberated from the hands of ruthless dictators, whose sole intention was for their destruction. But God stepped in and just like winter, He put an end to it. God, alone, changes the seasons. Throughout history though, He incorporated people to accomplish His will. That is why the Jews are still here. It is for their salvation and the redemption of the world. It’s time we join God in this season as helpers. The salvation of the Jews is not just for their benefit. It is like life from the dead for the church.(Romans 11:15)

May the God of all hope keep you this season and beyond,
In the love of Yeshua,

* The Mishkha event was based upon the vision God gave us to aid in restoring the emotional and spiritual health to the Believers in Israel, beginning with soldiers and their wives. Our goal is for them to collectively embrace Israel’s ancient calling to the nations, biblically known as the Abrahamic blessing, and relay it to the families of the earth. It was well received!
